Food, Family, and Mealtime Quotes

“This is what I want you to do: I want you to tell someone you love them, and dinner’s at six. I want you to throw open your front door and welcome the people you love into the inevitable mess with hugs and laughter. Gather the people you love around your table and feed them with love and honesty and creativity, because there will be a day when it all falls apart. There are things I can’t change. Not one of them. Can’t fix, can’t heal, can’t put the broken pieces back together. Party Planning Timeline

3 Months Out: Pick a theme for your party or an inspiration picture that you’ll base your party around. My “Favorite Things” Party was all inspired by a Navy and Orange striped bag I saw in a catalogue a couple of months ago. Pick a date that will work best for your family and guests. Be very thoughtful around school events, community happenings, and sport programs in your area. Talk to friends to make sure you’re not forgetting about anything important. Make sure that each family or guest knows at least 1-2 other guests. I often bring many different groups of friends together and as long as they know a couple of other people it will all run smoothly. Everyone DOES NOT need to know each other….

Waffle with Candied Bacon

Breakfast for dinner is never a bad idea especially with this maple candied bacon crisped on the Traeger! Make your favorite waffles (my family loves Kodiak Cake’s Power cakes that are whole wheat with extra protein). Add bacon and an egg on top with kosher salt, ground pepper, and a lot of maple syrup. Serve with a fruit salad so you don’t feel so guilty. Maple candied bacon- buy extra thick cut bacon (a must). Throw the strips in a bowl with maple syrup and brown sugar and toss until all coated. Lay out on a rack over a cookie sheet and then grind pepper and cayenne pepper if you like spice with your sweet (you do). Grill or bake at 400 until you get it as crispy as you like. You may want to broil the bacon at the end if you like it extra crispy. Finally, a word of WARNING. My daughter was inhaling the bacon on her way to dance last night and started choking. We pulled over and I had to swipe down her throat to…
