Costco Churros

COSTCO TIP!! Buy frozen churros at the food court and bake them yourself (under-bake to get a much softer middle). Toss in cinnamon and sugar and you can feed a huge crowd! 50 long churros (these are cut in half) for $28! When you bake them yourself they are so much better! My 2nd graders class went wild over them today! 🎉

Party Planning Timeline

3 Months Out: Pick a theme for your party or an inspiration picture that you’ll base your party around. My “Favorite Things” Party was all inspired by a Navy and Orange striped bag I saw in a catalogue a couple of months ago. Pick a date that will work best for your family and guests. Be very thoughtful around school events, community happenings, and sport programs in your area. Talk to friends to make sure you’re not forgetting about anything important. The biggest party planning mistake is scheduling your party on a very busy night for your friends. I find Thursday nights are the best for girlfriends and Saturday night for a couples or family party. Pick your guest list. It may be a small dinner party, a larger girls night, or family BBQ. Make sure that each family or guest knows at least 1-2 other guests. I often bring many different groups of friends together and as long as they know a couple of other people it will all run smoothly. Everyone DOES NOT need to know each other….

Life is not all Chili Dogs

Life is not all chili dogs. I often get asked how I am able to eat so much. It’s all about moderation. This is breakfast today. No carbs. Leave the muffins, croissants, and pastries unless they look amazing. I split the chili dog with my husband last night and probably only ate 1/4 of it. The 10th bite is not as good as the first. If I eat grilled doughnuts, I eat half of one and not three. I eat really well 90% of the time and leave that 10% for food that is worth it. Last night they served a cobbler that was pretty average for dessert so after one bite I put my fork on the floor (crazy lady) so I wouldn’t eat anymore. If it was amazing cobbler I would have eaten the whole bowl. Be picky about your splurges. And of course EXERCISE!! Six days a week no excuses. First thing every morning with very few exceptions. I love it, crave it, and can’t live without it. I’m a better mom, wife, and foodie once the…

Party Planning Part 3

Last party post! (For those who have joined recently, I’ve written out my party planning timeline from 3 months to Go time). *3 days out* Buy drinks, non-perishables, and most food except bread or things that may go stale. *2 days out* Start chopping! Prepare all your food and keep them in baggies so they’re ready to go. Ziplock bags are your best friends when preparing food for large gatherings. You can really do most things 2 days before. There are things like tomatoes, avocados and such that you’ll want to wait until the day of. *Day before* Set out all platters with notes about what food goes where. Plates, napkins, silverware and cups can all be set out as well. Chill drinks and set out all decorations that are inside. Buy flowers first thing in the morning and arrange them. (Keep in cool room). *Day of* Get dressed and ready 2-3 hours before party. Set out last minute details in the morning. I like to have everything set out many hours before party. Food can be set out 20-30…

Healthy Eating Tips and Tricks

Speaking tonight to women about healthy eating tips and tricks. Here are a couple of my notes. What are some of your favorite tips? 1. Self discipline – Healthy, in-shape people are rarely lucky. They work very hard and say no to unhealthy food more often then yes. Sacrifice, willpower, and hard work. 2. Change your mindset about the type of eater you are. (Tell yourself, I never buy chicken nuggets or hamburgers at a drive through. I don’t eat white bread. I am a healthy eater. I exercise six days a week) 3. Make splurges worth it- Don’t think of foods as off limits. Indulge on only the very best things. 4. Weight loss is 75% diet and 25% exercise. You are what you eat. 5. Low carb (less pasta, white breads ) Load up on lean proteins and vegetables (chicken, pork, all veggies) 6. Remove temptation- Don’t keep unhealthy food at home. (Throw away candy, 2 bites of dessert then fork on the floor, say no to the bread bowl) 7. Emotional eating – Monitor when and why…
