Civility Is Staying Kind

Thoughts after todays Sunday School lesson on the Constitution and founding of the U.S-

Civility isn’t weakness, it’s staying kind while you stay firm.

Before I fire back about something I care about, I’ve learned to ask myself one question: what have I actually done about this? Not typed. Done.

President Camille N. Johnson asked us to imagine what would happen if we unleashed the full power of women — turning our personal inspiration into organized action. We would change the world!

I’ve sat across more tables than I can count, working on legislation that helps families. And it never ends up exactly how we want it, or how the other side wants it. It’s a compromise. A collaboration. And we always end up in a better spot than either of us could’ve reached alone.

But it only works when I start with me.. and you. Not the person across the aisle or the social media post. When I get curious instead of contemptuous. When I ask what would actually heal instead of what would win.

This isn’t us vs. them. We’re called to lean in. So get involved. It isn’t hard. It’s just needed.
What’s one thing you could actually do this week to help your community?
