From a Mom Who’s Already Done Thanksgiving 2025...

We hosted Thanksgiving early this year (traveling for the real turkey day!), and I have to say—it was so nice to celebrate without the rush. From one busy mom to another, here are a few takeaways that might make your holiday run a little smoother—and help you actually enjoy it.

Invite everyone to bring something! People love to contribute. If there are special recipes you adore, send them out ahead of time—friends and family will be more than happy to make your favorites.

Order out what you can. Whether it’s Costco mashed potatoes, bakery rolls, or pre-made pies—remember, homemade doesn’t have to mean you-made!

Add some easy fun. We always grab a few Amazon Thanksgiving games or matching bingo cards for cheap, happy entertainment. And my favorite? A coloring tablecloth! It’s the perfect way for kids (and adults) to doodle, laugh, and connect while the food finishes up.

Get creative with the main dish. Who says turkey is mandatory? We did a small bird this year, but the brisket stole the show. Make your favorite protein—steak, salmon, even ribs—and call it a day.

However you gather, I hope your table is full of laughter, gratitude, and just enough chaos to remind you you’re doing it right.
