Takeaways from My Conversation with Dr. Barbara Morgan Gardner

Women today have more access to a voice than at any point in history.

And yet so many of us still hesitate.

We worry about:
• saying the wrong thing
• hurting feelings
• being misunderstood
• making mistakes
• looking prideful

In my conversation with @drbarbaramorgangardner this week on Instagram Live (saved here), we talked through the idea:

“The cost of inaction is greater than the cost of making a mistake.”

Let that sit for a minute.

The cost of staying quiet.
The cost of not sharing your gifts.
The cost of ignoring the nudge you keep feeling.

That cost is far greater than trying and getting it wrong.

Barbara also talked about something I see all the time in women.

False humility.

Sometimes we hide our voices because we think humility means staying small.

But using your gifts to help people is not pride.

It is stewardship.

If something is placed on your heart to do, speak about, build, gather, teach, serve, or create, it is not about comparison.

It is about calling.

And when something is a calling, you are not looking sideways.

You are simply responding.

If you feel a nudge right now, this is your reminder:

Start with 1%.

Do one thing.

The world needs more women willing to step forward.
