A love letter to my first crowded table…

A love letter to my family, my first crowded table, Mom, Dad, Tiff, Dani, and David,

Life at Our Table, our family cookbook, is a memoir of our family, told through food, our love language for over 50 years. Our childhood beneath Mt. Diablo, in Walnut Creek, California, was idyllic. We grew up washing Mom and Dad’s cars on Saturdays and snapping photos with disposable cameras by the pool. We celebrated each day with a meal – and if we were lucky, fork fights for the last bits of chocolate molten cake. Although years have passed and we “grow’d up” (as one of my twins would say), our culture of gathering, cooking, and feeding is alive and evolving.

To the world’s best siblings: Tiffany, so full of life, you have taken Los Angeles by storm, embracing the journeys of entrepreneurship and motherhood with such wisdom and grace. Danielle, the most stylish Moore, you bring people together and build community in your home, a sanctuary where our family culture and values shine. David, the epitome of perseverance, you are the most thoughtful of us, never shying away from hard conversations and always building strong bonds.

Mom and Dad, you showed us that to be a Moore is to gather and feed, because if we didn’t step up to host, who would? From weeknight dinners to neighborhood BBQs to epic bashes, you always made room for one more (or another 10) at our table. In all areas of life, you led by example. By watching you exercise, we learned to take care of ourselves first. By watching you give of yourselves, we saw the value of serving others. By watching you learn, we understood the importance of growth. By watching your faith in action, we experienced the blessings of making Jesus a priority.

In writing this book, we gathered one another and compiled our favorite recipes from throughout the years. The memories and stories connected to each recipe are what I cherish most.

XOXO,
Kristin
