Joy & Rejoicing in Posterity

I hear this phrase in the temple often:

“That you will find joy and rejoicing in your posterity.”

And you don’t even have to be Christian to have this apply to your life and family!

I’ve been thinking about what that means right now in the thick of raising kids ages 9–18. And what does it mean for you with toddlers, adult children, and everything in-between.

Because this season is not perfect and not all joy-filled.
It’s fighting and loving and figuring it all out.

Maybe joy isn’t waiting at the finish line or when everything works out.

Maybe it’s an attitude and posture we choose.

A way of seeing growth instead of perfection.

Effort instead of outcome.

Becoming instead of arrival.

There is joy in trial.
There is joy in triumph.

And I don’t want to miss this season waiting for it to be easier.

I’m sharing 20 ways I try to cultivate joy and rejoicing in my posterity right now.
